What does an Operations Staff Member Do?
Operations Members duties are integral to the smooth running of our conference operations. Responsibilities are as follows:
- Assisting with the Residential Facilities Department with residential halls operations. This includes managing the distribution of linens, room supplies, and ensuring the readiness of guests' rooms.
- Working with third-party vendors and Tufts service providers.
- Daily check-ins with Full-Time Staff.
- When necessary, helping to provide visitors with an orientation to Tufts University, the Boston area and to New England. This may involve: giving campus tours, answering questions on a wide variety of topics, helping overseas visitors adjust to their new environment, and interacting with conference participants in formal as well as informal settings.
The expectation of this position is that all applicants will be prepared to assume a leadership role in managing and maintaining the conference and residence facilities operated by the department. A successful Operations staff member is one who works well in a team-oriented atmosphere and possesses excellent communication skills, poise, patience, and flexibility. They should be self-starters and independent workers, capable of executing their projects, and managing others working with them on various tasks. Operations Interns will report to the Operations Supervisor.
Candidates with a valid US driver’s license are strongly preferred.
