What does the Front Desk Do?
The Front Desk Staff assists the Conference and Event Services Team by facilitating contact with summer conference guests, Interns, and the Residential Life Summer Staff. Front Desk Staff will be expected to be knowledgeable, or willing to learn, about university facilities, local attractions, and the Conference and Event Services' operations. A successful Front Desk staff works well independently and possesses excellent communication skills, poise, patience, and flexibility. Those who are active thinkers, detail-oriented, and enjoy interacting with a diverse clientele will thrive in this position.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Remain available and visible to guests when assigned shifts within the residential hall
- Answer the department phone line, take messages, or route calls to the appropriate staff member
- Respond to any inquiries, questions, or other messages sent to the department's summer operations email
- visually assess maintenance issues and ask appropriate questions before informing Residential Life Summer Operation's staff
- Maintain a proper and professional appearance
- Serve as an on-call rotation holding the duty phone and responding to lockouts during overnight shifts
Candidates with a valid US driver’s license are preferred.
